Al Ahly returned to league action on Tuesday afternoon at Aswan Stadium after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco and facing Al Hilal in Sudan in the CAF Champions League.
The Red Eagles achieved a comfortable 3-0 win at Aswan Stadium over the local side, Aswan SC, thanks to three goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half.
First Half
We had a good start to the game and we could have opened the score after 10 minutes when Kahraba found the target but the referee disallowed the goal for offside.
We kept pushing for the opening goal. Ahmed Abdelkader's header and Hussein El Shahat's shot came close but it was clear that we are ready to have the lead.
In the 34th minute, Kahraba opened the score with a sensational header after receiving a beautiful cross from El Shahat.
Seven minutes later, after another beautiful pass from El Shahat, Abdelkader doubled the score with a strong shot that found the target.
Aswan had a chance to close the gap when they were awarded a penalty but El Shenawy put on an amazing save to keep our two-goal lead.
In the added time of the first half, Afsha made the score 3-0 with a beautiful shot. The assist was also from El Shahat who had a superb performance in the first half.
Second Half
After the break, the three points never really looked in serious doubt as our players kept pushing for another goal.
Our amazing fans were happy with the team's performance and it was great to feel a real party atmosphere going on in Aswan Stadium.
The Red Eagles secured a 3-0 win and we are now atop of the table with 40 points and secured our 11th clean sheet after 16 matches.
